Step 1: Getting your 80% pension refund You MUST apply for the Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment within two years of finishing your ALT contract and withdrawing from the pension scheme. Complete and return the Claim Form for the Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment Claim, available here: http://www.sia.go.jp/e/pdf/english.pdf *Complete the form in CAPITAL LETTERS* Box 3: - The address you fill in is where they will send the necessary papers for claiming your 20% tax refund ? make sure you will have access to this address! - If you are uncertain where youfll be living, you may want to use your parentsf address. Box 4: - You must be able to prove the listed bank account is yours and exists - the form asks for a certified bank stamp. - However, a bank statement is sufficient, if it lists your name, account number, the bank name, branch name, and branch address. - You canft have the money sent to someone elsefs bank account. However, if you submit the claim form immediately after leaving Japan, you should get your 80% by Christmas. - The lump-sum payment will be made into the designated account in your home country. @- The amount remitted to your account will be calculated at the currency exchange rate on the day of transaction. - When you receive the refund payment (minus 20% tax), you will also receive a slip called Notice of Lump Sum Withdrawal Payment (entitlement). It will be thick white paper, about A4 size, with blue writing. DO NOT throw this paper out! You need this paper to claim your 20% tax refund. Part 2: Getting your 20% Tax Refund You MUST apply for a refund of the 20% tax within five years of finishing your ALT contract and withdrawing from the pension scheme. Send the notification to Shidoka: - The white card/blue ink Notice of Lump Sum Withdrawal Payment (entitlement) should be sent to Shidoka (assuming you chose us as your Tax Representative).
