Arriving in Sendai

Travelling to Sendai
On the last morning of Tokyo Orientation, we (the ALT Advisor, Educational Advisor, and English Teachersf Consultant) will meet you at the hotel to travel together to Sendai.

We will travel by shinkansen (bullet train) then take a short subway ride to your hotel. *If you will be accompanied by family members please contact us as soon as possible in order to make the necessary arrangements.*

Luggage
As there is no space for luggage on the shinkansen, you must bring only a carry-on bag for the journey. Any large luggage must be shipped to your school on the last night of Tokyo Orientation. You must pay the shipping fees in cash.

First Night in Sendai
Your first night in Sendai will be spent in a private hotel room. The baggage which you shipped from Narita airport will be waiting for you at the hotel. This night will be your first chance to meet gveteranh ALTs at your welcome party.

First Day in Sendai
The following morning, staff from your schools (usually your JTE supervisor) will come to the hotel. We will all attend a meeting during which some procedures for settling in will be explained (e.g. how to get your Alien Registration Card, switching on apartment utilities, etc.) Following the meeting, your supervisor will take you to your apartment and perhaps your school, where you may be introduced to the staff.

First Few Days
You will spend your time settling in at school and getting to know your new neighbourhood. Try to meet up with other ALTs in your area and your sempai (gveteranh ALT who will be your buddy). There are plenty of events going on in Sendai over summer, so please ask your sempai for ideas.
