Language Exchange

At Sendai International Center, there is a language exchange bulletin board. You can post an ad seeking a language exchange partner, or check out the ads already posted there. Only gexchangeh ads are allowed - you canft post a message seeking a paid tutor. Usually you will meet your exchange partner and spend part of the time studying/speaking Japanese, the rest of the time English (or other languages, depending on your skills). The idea is that you get free Japanese practice and your partner gets free English practice. A lot of the ads are posted by university students, so it can be a good way to make Japanese friends your own age. Of course, they arenft trained tutors, so it may take a few tries before you find a partner who you like.
