Study Leave

Special leave is available for those who wish to take a Japanese-language course during summer vacation. This leave is contingent on obtaining approval from the school and the BOE. The process for taking this special study leave is as follows.

At least two weeks before studying submit to Shidoka:

1.  The
application form, stamped by your principal.
2.  A course prospectus (pamphlet is best, downloaded information may be acceptable) from the proposed school including focus grammar, skills to be studied and hours of instruction/homework per day.

You will receive initial approval at this point, and an official document will be sent to your school to that effect.

Within two weeks after studying submit to Shidoka:

1.  A copy of your certification of completion, listing number of hours studied.
2.  Copy of receipt indicating payment for the course.
3.  Completed
report form, stamped by your principal.
4. Completed
Japanese Language School Report form.

At this point, if you have fulfilled all the above requirements, a notification of how many days of study leave you are entitled to will be sent to your school.

Please note:  courses longer than two weeks will be approved only under special circumstances.  Please consult with the BOE.

*  make extra copies of all these documents for later use.
